Lutheran Word Relief School Kits
For Children in the Third World
Every year Lutheran World Relief, a major force for good in the world, sends a call to churches in the United States to gather school supplies and make sturdy handmade student backpacks for children around the world.
Here at St. Matthews we are serious about our mission ministry. Our volunteers purchased rulers, pencils, crayons, lined paper, construction paper, scissors, glue ... all the supplies that a dedicated student needs to do well ... and then we sewed roomy backpacks to hold the supplies.
This week we collected, assembled, and prepared dozens of School Kits for Lutheran World Relief. We will bless them with the promise of the Holy Spirit for the good works they will accomplish in whatever places and circumstances they land.

 In 2017, we again gather to assemble kits to send to children all over the world, so they, too, may have new pencils and tablets and other school supplies to help them learn. God's Work-- Our Hands 2017 |

Lutheran Maritime Mission 2016
Lutheran Maritime Mission (LAMM) serves the thousands of seamen aboard ships, far from home, who visit our ports to bring us convenient and necessary commerce and trade--at great cost to their families and home lives. LAMM brings the message of salvation in Jesus Christ, a joyful fellowship with other believers, and the Maritime Mission shares warm clothes and supplies to a sometimes unnoticed segment of God's children. Thank you to Thrivent for supporting our gifts of love.

In addition, San Mateo, St. Matthew's Filipino Ministry, has been collecting both toys for children and groceries for families to support an ongoing Christian ministry in Juarez, Mexico. Click the link to see pictures from this ministry.
